Funny Story, I drew this a couple of years ago. I posted it on Instagram and Later found my artwork yet again but this time Traced over and reposted as some Twin Peaks rip off. The guy was getting a staggeringly huge amount of likes while my original got a mere fraction. I was Mad, I was Upset, They say Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But this was Blatant Theft. And so thankfully I posted about it on Facebook and my art friends Gathered and made him remove it. 

So why Bring it up now? well the guy had the Audacity to contact me recently and said he Had learnt his lesson and was now a Teacher with Students and if I could not make any trouble for him that would be 'Great'. To say this made me mad again was an understatement and I in no way would ever destroy a persons career no matter what they had done. People have to live with their Mistakes and I replied to let him know that to Remember that while he's a Teacher of a Higher Standing that I am Just a lowly ARTIST trying to get by . I work in another industry to get by money wise and if you steal from a Pauper to make yourself Richer then you are of no worth. Period. So Thats the Moral Kiddies Don't Steal.

A Very Booby Christmas

R.i.P Harold Ramis

I can't tell you my reaction to the news of Harold Ramis' aka Egon Spengler passing..... well I was shattered. Ghostbusters was the Shiznit way back in 1984 the impact it made when it first came out, there was nothing else like it then and since. It was a HUGE Mega-Hit it raked in massive amounts of cash and through merchandise like T-Shirts and toys. I remember being 10 years old and coming out of the theatre on the bus ride home thinking I have just seen a CLASSIC. So I really hope there are no more sequels I liked the second one too but a third nah I don't see the point. Reboot it if you want but let me remember the way the original was though. Harold Director/Actor/Comedian RIP.

Ever had a curse you can't break? Well mine is that I get nagged for art portraits by women. (For Free of Course) "Oh Matt I want you to draw me" And I try to not to, for the longest time knowing that they only want me for my Pen.....Manship. Sure as its done its on to someone else and I'm forgotten. I see it as a Funny Quirk Curse.

Roller Girls of Gotham

Originally intended as a Roller Poster the changes I had to make destroyed my creative vision. I dont mind if you need to make changes but when you are NOT paying for it then any ideas you have are only considered by me. Ultimately the decision is mine. So after this was rejected because women having boobs is a No-No according to the Approval Board. This became mine again and Well I brought back the big boobs and made them into Batman Villains. Things always happen for a reason.

The Great Ak

Forget Rudolph, The Life & Adventures of Santa Claus is my second favorite Rankin/Bass Production right next to Mad Monster Party. So when asked to contribute some further art to Rick Goldschmidts upcoming Portfolio Anniversary I chose The Great Ak from the stated story.

 Something about that design grabbed me, perhaps its the giant wooden antlers he wears or the Awesome Silver Axe he wields which by the way chopped enemies easily in two in the original book written by Frank L. Baum and not produce lazer beams to minimize angry parents wrath against violence on the screen. Still its a great show I try to watch it every year and really enjoy all the Designs of the Woodland Spirits probably R/B Greatest TV special.

A September Weekend

Talking about History I've been studying American, mainly the Civil War and different parts of that Country. Interesting stuff  Looking forward to seeing my friends again next year in 2013 and visiting a few more places.

Paging a Page

Finally had some time off from the Laundry to work on Lord Fancy and I've almost finished page 3. Page 3 you Say? Hard to believe why it took so long to write and draw like almost 18 months. I think my greatest Mistake was showing the original first 2 pages of artwork to my Art Friends. They Loved them so much how could I continue the story to such great feedback. Would it all be downhill from there? So I procrastinated over them, just sketching that same goddamn page number 3.
I spoke to a Big Named Editor interested in Lord Fancy about a year ago and I didn't hear anything back which I thought that he really didn't like it. ( I recently found out that he had some personal things to deal with at the time and comics weren't a top priority) So I guess this further cemented I suck.
Well now page 3 is almost done with no obvious redesign again. I can begin Pages 4,5,6 to 30 or whatever page count the story comes to. I cant believe I wanted to be a comic artist a long time ago.
I have a Greater respect for my pals who work in that industry and that may be the reason why Dave Stevens only ever did 2-3 Rocketeer Books. He wanted them to be Good not get washed out in Volumes.
