Choopy
The character Choopy from the Perhapanauts drawn last year. The colour looks faded because I was working in CMYK at the time so its less Vibrant.

Making a Cover
Remember the Perhapanauts Cover I did? It was the most detailed artwork I had done at that point and I Thought it only fair to share some pre-production work I did for it. Using mainly Steve Purcell and Jill Thompson as Inspiration I sketched out the main characters and then put them together across a page. Once they fit all nice and snuggly I then began the task of drawing it all in illustrator.

Get It Off!
It's been a year since my last job interview. It was a bad interview so bad I didnt even hear back from the Games Company it was for. During the Interview I was asked if a cheerleader game based on a long running Franchise Movie turned into the vein of a Guitar Hero/Dance game would interest me?? How does one dignify that with a response.... Oh Yeah Wow oh how brilliant a video game where you have to play with pom poms and jump around in a skirt. Every guy as well as girl will want that for their games collection.
I tried to put on a brave face, but I guess the disgust of having to work on such a game that was soley there for a Brand Name and Profit destroyed any sense of interest in games. They saw right through my thinly veiled liking of such a crappy thing. Yuck. As a Wise StormTrooper once said 'Move Along, Move Along'
Finally saw the movie '9' I really liked it, my only issue was the ending it was so Ambiguous. Not to mention the resolve was a little cut short. I think this needed a thought process to it.
Picked up a PS2 today cheap because the store was getting rid of them, its not the PS3 I wanted but I really cant afford to have one right now with the way my current bank balance is. So I am unsure what games are available. I got Medal of Honor Vanguard which I'm having fun with I guess the controls could be better. Any other games you think I should get for it?

Devilish Taste
Continuing with a Daily Post heres a Possible Future T-Shirt design.
So having seen the new 'V' TV pilot I must say it was actually quite good. Growing up on the Original I think it was the first time I was ever introduced to a serious Sci-Fi show with serious consequences. The whole background was the Aliens Come and pretend to be friends only to reveal later they want our water and to eat us oh and they're LIZARDS incased in Human skin. They had to update it a little but it wasnt so drastic as to say Hey you know what SCREW the existing fanbase we want to do a really a more ultrarealistic take on this. No Lizards, No Fascist Undertones Heck we might even change sex of Original Characters just to Piss you off even more.....RONALD MOORE. Phew, So Glad he's not involved in it.
Moreena Bacharin is Lovely as evil leader 'ANNA' ok so its not 'DIANA' but her subtle blinking shows a devious demon inside. I wish they had strange voices it shows that yes they are indeed alien even if we cant see their inner selfs. Probably the only aspect I wasn't so hot on was I like Rayguns and giant knifed ninja lizards dont excite me as much Oh Well cant have everything.

Frankenstein Monster Mash
Another Frankenstein Monster, I don't think I've ever posted this on the Art blog before. But Please Correct me if I'm wrong. I was thinking how cool it would be to have a Book of Different artist interpretations of the Monster and how fitting it would be for creators to make their own monster.

Mad Mad Monsters
I've had this picture for awhile. Some time ago I tried to get the job of Cover Designer for the Deluxe Mad Monster Party DvD being a massive fan of the Movie. I even went so far as to do this Rough. As you may know I didn't get the job I believe there was alot of politics behind the scenes. Eventually they went with some atrocious Photo Cover. YUCK!!
It's Still a Great Movie though and an Awesome Halloween Treat.

Heat Stroke
First time in almost a year I got Heat Stroke, we have had one long Winter but today confirmed that summer is just around the corner.
Okay I've had a few enquiries about the sketches for sale, in these bad economic times some people cant afford it so I have come up with an alternative. I'm a great collector of DvDs and Art Of Books as such if you wish to swap me for some art then I can do that these two are on my Want List right now Art of Up and Freakazoid Season 2 on DvD. Great Deal huh? Email me with what you want and what you want to swap it for and remember First In, First Serve. Otherwise they are $75.00 Each.

Sketchbook Fever!!
So drawing lately has revitalized my thought processes of actually doing a Sketchbook. I'm not talking about 'Red Licorice' which is still on the Cards down the track once I find a Publisher. But the cost is still Prohibitive for me I dont make enough to take such a large undertaking.
No I'm thinking a few B/W book of sketches or a comic I got whirlin in my head a story with so much amazing adventure it is just Bursting to get out. So At the Moment this is what it could be a 40 pages of either comic or sketches or possibly both for $15 US thats including the Postage so does that sound like a Good Idea?
I'm not talking about Logopolis either, the strip will remain here for free and I'm sorry I have yet to complete this weeks its in the works But I have my hands full at the moment and truly how can I complain to be working I dont want it to stop.
Please Check out the latest Poll before it expires too.

All Spankin' New Logopolis!!
Oh its been a long time coming a brandy spanky new Logopolis. How I missed it so..... For all who have missed previous strips I have popped them all into an album over on Facebook. I hope to get these back to a more weekly schedule.
I never get much feedback on this blog, there are so many out there. However its good I feed this through my notes on Facebook. Alot of Industry Professionals have been messaging me the past couple of days, telling me of their own flights into Depression from lack of work the recognitions there, but not the jobs. It aint a great feeling. I don't really want to dwell on this too much again but its nice to know I am not alone.
I found myself buying comic books yesterday, I havent really done so in a while. But Picked up Jill Thompson's Beasts of Burden and DC's Superman Secret Origins with the reinstallation of SuperBoy. Can't Wait to Read them.

BLACKDOG
What is a professional??
Is it making money from something you are good at?
These Past few months has seen a resurgence of interest in my work. For awhile there it had me worried I'd been on a downward spiral for some time now. Long before I left for my US trip last year I was not really happy with my career prospects then LA happened and a blip occurred from where I reached an all time High....... quickly followed by an all time low. The few Job interview's I had didn't go so well and everything began to look bleak I was in a mound of debt. Artist friends stopped taking my calls and stopped reading my mail.
People I called friends abandoned me some have been suprising while some not so much. I think its truly a low act when someone who is struggling and others can see it and yet do nothing to not even give some kind of moral support are inhuman. Artists are a strange breed for this they like to look after themselves. I was never like this always willing to share work but then time and time again I would get burned and even I have my limits.
So anyway enough about them, for the past while I've been suffering from Depression with my own personal Black Dog. There I said it, earlier this year I was put into therapy for Extreme Anxiety Attacks. Right now I'm doing ok, Dealing and the medication helps. I love art its in my blood for while I tried to deny it but it kept coming back and resurfacing. Eventually embracing it and walking that long road to filling this artistic craving.
Art is a Hard profession to get into, many of my friends who grew up wanting to be artists have ended in a day job where they are living in a little cubicle answering phones and staring at computer screens all day. The Upside of this is that they are making money while I am not.
But art is art, no I may never make a mark on this Landscape of Earth nor an impression but its never been about that for me. I dont want Fortune and Glory. Just to be Remembered.
I dont talk about Video Games much but I love them and Scribblenauts is a Fun little Game I picked up for my Nintendo DS today. Its wonderful for a creative mind to use ideas to get from A to B. even for the fun factor of having a little baby eaten by a dinosaur is a hysterical thing to watch. I'm really enjoying it you can even write Book of the Dead and it turns people into Zombies. How cool is that!! On the Wii I've been getting readdicted to Super Mario Galaxy and apparently a sequel is in the works so looking forward to that!
The Perhapanauts Halloween Spooktactular sees release on the 17th October. Can't believe that cover of mine is just weeks away!!

Frogless
Am I the Only one NOT interested in 'The Princess and the Frog'? It just seem's to be Disneys apology to their classic 'Song of the South' ZIPPYDEEDOODAH!! Its like we need to make this a mostly Black cast and have no stereotypes because that would be bad! May as well have them all Voiced by Ice-Cube too while you're at it. I'm glad 2D is not dead I am so tired of the 3D my head hurts.
Animated Films have been lackluster of late. Sometimes I'm glad I dont work within that closed industry they all seem to be full of Alchoholics, Flakes, and Ego's. None of which I proudly am.
I will not be attending Armageddon 2009 this year in Melbourne, for a few important reasons. Last year was awful and I just didn't care for it. I was so bored within the first 10 minutes I couldn't believe I had a 2 day pass to use up. I also decided to save my money and finally pay off my debts so that I hope to hit San Diego comic con again next year for another review as Cartoon Network has decided to go all crappy with Live Action! I will have try to get into Nickelodeon and see what they have to say to my portfolio. But anyway back to Armageddon with its disappointing time last year and the fact I went to Supanova earlier in the year it just seems so mute to do it yet again. If you dont enjoy things then you need to stop doing it.
I am disappointed this does mean No Melbourne visit, I had hoped to meet up with my model friend Angela for a Coffee as well catchup with a couple of old pals. But not meant to be. My career is too important. I am getting older and not getting as far as I would like to go! Next week I begin some freelance work so I'm looking forward to adding that to my portfolio.
Finally it's taking awhile but Logopolis is coming back next month with a few cool changes after a years Hiatus. For followers on my Facebook I'm uploading the backlog of older Logopolis so you can catch up but as they are stand alone you wont have to read them but helps you understand the characters!

Signs
I've been playing with a new signature for my art. The Old one didn't really convey who I was and with new stuff coming out soon with my name attached the sig just didnt really suit the artwork in progess. So I whipped up the above Sig tonight to test the waters. I've tried it on the pick below as reference.

Spring Update
A couple of weeks since my last update, I'm deep in artwork for what will hopefully be the first of many Art Print sets for DreamWork Collectors. Doing stuff that I will be finally proud of at last! So if I'm silent for most of this month you all know why!
Ray Barrett may not be a name you are familiar but for Gerry Anderson puppet fans namely 'THUNDERBIRDS' he was the voice of the villainess Hood and a well established Australian actor who worked in Britain on shows like STINGRAY, The Avengers and Doctor Who. Ray died today and although he didn't like talking about his times working on these legendary shows he certainly played a very large part in 60's pop culture. Thanks Ray.
Speaking about Doctor Who last week I picked up the amazing 'THE WAR GAMES' DvDs, I am fast becoming a Patrick Troughton fan he was an awesome Doctor.
Also got the 12th season of The Simpson's, only as it had my favorite episode ever the The Computer Wore Menace Shoes. With its 'The Prisoner' Homage but it seems they didn't have the love for it enough to actually reference the series. They call its location the Island instead of the Village and I doubt highly that they couldn't afford the rights when they even use some of its music. But seeing this again it just shows how long in the tooth the Simpson's had become and with them still on the air some things were meant to end.

Carry On Drawing
I Love the 'Carry On' films so much, they were the only 'Adult' Entertainment we were allowed to watch when I was a child. It was better to watch Slap&Tickle Humour rather than the Gratutious Sex and violence of the Eighties. So for the Last Couple of Weeks I've been watching my small collection of Videos of the British Icon like Carry On Screaming, Cowboy, Cleo, Regardless, Cabby, Cruising, Constable and Spying.
There are LOTS more 30 films to be exact. These are all available on Disc Boxset called the Ultimate Collection in Britain. So to all my British friends if you can hear me I give you a challenge if you would like an original Commission from me I am willing to swap Art for this Boxset. So Don't dawdle, Find it cheap, Contact me and we'll work out a deal.

Spooktacular!
This is a reminder that you can now Order Image Comics 'The Perhapanauts Halloween Spooktacular' in this months PREVIEWS due out in the Second Week of October 2009, I am one of four Artists contributing a cover I'm also mentioned in a recent interview by Writer and Co-Creator Todd Dezago HERE. It seems so Long Ago since this was done when in fact April last year. I even had a few limited Prints to swap at comic con last year. I think I still have one of those left no idea where most of the others ended up. Looking back at this now I see some major flaws and things I'd like to go back and redo. BUT thats benefit of Hindsight for you.
Okay I feel really bad I wasn't as active a member on the Autumn Society so I think I've been dumped from there. I have had alot of people wanting me to join their groups in the past year and I've declined many it just got a bit much with my current workload for me to be active.

Death Of Freedom
Money Talks, its a universally translated device. I wish I had money I would just do a Michael Palin and Travel the World and meet new and exciting people and locations.
Back in 2001 I decided to sign up for Geocities way back when it wasn't bossed by Yahoo. It was a free website storage and it suited me fine. A couple of years later it began to annoy me. The Banners became more aggressive and for a so called Professional it was not the best way to go about showing it. So I moved to a paid site for a better deal.
So recently Yahoo announced the closure of Geocities in favor of PREMIUM website ie PAY MONEY, it sad to see it come to an end. A freedom such as that.
The Owner of FOX I wont say who he is because hes a Rich Prick and he reminds me of VolderMort with a Mail-Order Bride but Lets Call him Voldy, he who shan't be named. Voldy Owns alot of Newspapers and he's decided that you will have to PAY for the Online Content to read it. You know thats Fine. He's obviously needs that extra gold briefcase.
But I'll go elsewhere for my online news, His Newspapers are Propaganda Rubbish and only good for lighting fires. The Internet should be FREE always with easy access. But it seems that Money always wins out.
The Art in this Post was found on an old CD and I decided to Illustrate this Rant with some of my first Uploaded Images on Geocities. Seemed Only Fitting!
Also I Recieved my T-Shirt today from RedBubble of 'Medusa The Gorgon' I have to say being very impressed with the Packaging and Presentation. The T-Shirt is a Great Quality too. And I really think you should go and buy one HERE.

Today Marks the First Anniversary of my Visit to Dreamworks, and with that I also announce a special partnership.
I have never wanted to work at a place as much as Dreamworks Animation, I got to do what a lot of other people only 'dream' about and actually visit the Studio where the Magic of Cartoons is Made. I really wanted to hide and not come out of there but security found me and threw back to reality to the 'gulp' Harsh World.
So it is with much fanfare that I announce I have been approached to supply a number of Limited Prints of Dreamwork Characters, at the moment plans are for , Shrek, Monsters Vs Aliens and Kung Fu Panda. These are in the Gestational Concept Stages.
Its gonna be a little bit of a wait but until then heres a brand new smashing drawing for you great people to look at.

Sketch Session Tasmania
This Weekend Happens to be San-Diego Comic-Con and I'm not there for the SketchbookSession which I loved to be apart of last year met so many long time friends from the DrawingBoard and Myspace fantastic time.
So Me and Chris Downes got together to have an attempt at doing our own not much got done but we really had a Blast talking about the Tasmania Art Sub-Culture scene and the people that abuse us. I got to see Chris' Mural he designed and it was great to chat to someone with similar Artistic Tastes and hope to do it again with him sometime soon. Please Checkout Chris' BLOG to find out more about him and Perhaps even read and buy his incredible comic book 'A Diary of a Work in Progress'.
As for where I have been around?? um......There will be announcement in about a weeks time it all seems very fitting and I'm very excited as to what will be happening.

Getting LOST
I've made available my Michael Jackson designed T-Shirt,$35 AUS you can buy it HERE
A week ago my favorite Discount DvD store had a deal get 2 Boxsets get one free. So I picked up the first three seasons of LOST. I had seen the Pilot but thats as far as I Got Mainly because I had no idea what the show was about was it Sci-Fi, Drama, or 'Gulp' Reality!!
I still don't know, but I have to say I'm enjoying it Despite the Fake Australian Accents. I mean do we talk like that no. In some ways they talk like South Africans and in others They are New Zealanders. Thats probably the biggets insult to bestow on an Aussie to have them played by a Kiwi. Its most likely the reason why the Star Wars Prequels Sucked so much!
Anyway I'm into Season Two already, you get through one episode to want to watch the next just the way shows should be.

Michael Jackson
Heres an Upcoming TeeShirt design for Michael Jackson Devotees. Speaking of TEE-Shirts due to numerous discussions I have had to change my Currency on Redbubble and now all prices of the shirts are $35.00 Australian but will still be much cheaper if you live in the States.

Saying Goodbyes
Without Doubt the biggest news this week has been the passing of Michael Jackson. Whatever your thoughts on the guy no one can deny that he did not help shape the 80's in a big way. Being a kid from that era growing up I remember my brother having the Thriller album and the Music Video with the making of with steven spielberg. Although much Later the world would discover the strange Bizarre fantasy world he lived in he will be missed my many and remembered for the music. I dont normally repost pictures but seems only fitting.
Overshadowed the same day was Farrah Fawcett, I grew up on Charlies Angels too but I watched it with Cheryl Ladd. So Farrah was not a big part of the culture for me. Despite that sad to see her go.
I'm sorry theres been no art, lately. I will be posting more stuff later in the week!

Lets Go Ghost Busters!!
Filmation was a studio I grew up on through saturday morning cartoons, and racing home after school to watch TV. One show I remember being excited to see was the new Ghost Busters cartoon. And I also bet when you tuned in that first time you were expecting Ray and Egon. While instead Recieving Jake and Eddie two characters never seen of before and even an Ape. This of course was a cash-in on the whole GB phenominon with even its own toy line. The Toys were so Bad they were more molten plastic so amazingly I never had any. But I liked the Cartoon. The main villain was Prime Evil a Skeletor clone that wasn't quite sure what he was.
Was he a Robot?? Ghost?? What?? he had the same character as Skeletor in that he was always an idiot with no real solid background as to why he needed to take over the Earth he just did. And as kids we accepted it. Filmation was infamous for reusing footage and this could not have been shown best than in the Ghostbusters getting ready scene which either ran for a full minute or 10 seconds (depending on if the show was running over) theres even a scene where all the characters just walk and walk and walk no plot, no banter just Walk!
So why am I bringing this all up now? I picked up the Ghost Busters on DvD unfortunately this is a cheap BareBones release with only three volumes with all the 8 episodes on each out of order. I mean the Five Part Origin Story is on Volume 2?? The aussie covers are awful, nasty and cheap looking but the transfer is most likely taken from the remastered release in America. Unlike the American release there are no Extras to speak of. I mean why do aussie kids want to see extras its not like adults buy cartoons. As a side note after purchasing these three volumes I happened to find the complete series of Filmations Flash Gordon with another very Crappy cover and no Extras. Thankfully I got the American release with great cover art all the extras and art cards so they can keep it!
Enjoy the Prime Evil art and Keep Ghost Busting!!

Due to having the Chicken Pox I was unable to complete my Darth Pott for the Vader Project in time. Ultimately this was a good idea as someone had a similar design and so this is a post for Posterity!

Redbubble Trouble
This is a picture of the lovely Heather from facebook with her W.O.W book in hand!
I have been forced to change my Payment options at Red Bubble. See even though my t-shirts are selling I am yet to recieve a dime from them. And it seems charging the US prices was the problem. As such I have been forced to change EVERYTHING!! All prices have had to be remade to make up for the Australian Dollar. I so didn't want to do this but I need to, to see any money.
Also Goodbye to the Grasshopper David Carradine hard to believe that we have lost some real greats this year!

Red Licorice
Red Licorice is a Book Concept I want to put together and get published of more than 100 Beautifully Posed Gorgeous Lady Illustrations its gonna be Page to Page Girly Art and no crap like text from Art Historians talking about how this was made or them liking the sound of their own voice rather than the main thing like I dunno some ART. I really Loved Bill Presings books and the way he had designed and presented them!
Unlike Bill though I dont have the cash to drive something like this and the fact of the matter is I've been told that no-one would buy my artwork in book form and I know that is alot of BS. What do you think because if people make enough noise those high enough will listen!!

Jason King
Played by Peter Wyngarde in two British TV series, Department S and JASON KING. He was an adventurer and womaniser who then wrote his adventures in Crime Novels becoming a successful author of Mark Kane Adventures. This is my Second attempt at Jason a much better likeness overall from the previous version!

Marvels in PrismaColor
Some Quick Sketches today, Back at Comic-Con Last year I was given some Fineliner Pen samples from PrismaColor. Which I only just recently found so decided to finally use them and get some usage. I actually really like them especially the Browny off Black. The other colour I have is a Green but it wasn't until much later I realised I should have drawn the Hulk in that Colour. Whoops!! Sorry Mr. Hulk Please Don't Smash Me!

Crazy Old Italian Guy!
I've been meaning to post this for weeks When I returned from Melbourne a month ago I caught the bus the next day into town to fix some horrible government thing and it took the long way around. It picked up this Grumpy old Italian Guy who was just telling everyone off and complaining. I have no idea what he was saying but he had a cane and started waving it around like he was gonna hit someone. He had such an amazing grumpy face I just had to pull out my sketchbook and draw it.
